We made mosaic motifs which were then used to create paving slabs. We also created a large mosaic of the GBY logo.
The workshops were free to attend and open to volunteers and visitors to the Green Backyard
Commissioned by Peterborough City Council, Connect Park on Bourges Boulevard, Peterborough was recently launched as a newly developed family park area with a children's playground, outdoor gym, ping-pong tables and a seating area. A central feature of the park is a large mock boulder created by local sculptor Claire Pope.
I was commissioned to deliver mosaic workshops within the local community to create colourful mosaic motifs which would then be fixed to the mock boulder. Children and adults created mosaic hearts, mandala circles simple flowers and also a few dragonflies to adorn the sculpture in a draped-over style reminiscent of lichen growing on a rock.
During 2016 I ran mosaic workshops at the Green Backyard, to create some outdoor pieces that would nestle in the wild and natural gardens of this beautifully tranquil community space, which lies in the centre of Peterborough city.
In 2018 I was commissioned by the Uppingham In Bloom Committee to deliver a community mosaic project in Uppingham, Leicestershire. We designed and created a beautiful mosaic flower-covered stone plinth, to commemorate and celebrate 35 years of the annual Uppingham in Bloom event. This piece was installed in one of the flower beds in the town centre and Uppingham went on to win the East Midlands in Bloom Gold award 2018.
One of the largest community projects, this is an 8ft by 4ft mural, commissioned by the charity Froglife. The mural, which is situated at The Green Backyard in Peterborough city centre, depicts animals and plants found in and around ponds.
The mural was designed by Muni and created with the help of over 100 volunteers & visitors to the Green Backyard, who were mostly complete beginners to mosaic! With bi-weekly drop-in workshops held at the Green Backyard, completion from start to finish took 5 months. The mural represents a celebration of the community who came together, braving some of the coldest winter months, to create a masterpiece!
